The revolutionary optical treatment known as OSEIRT overcame the limitation of conventional Ortho-K’s inability to treat all but mild myopia. This was accomplished by incorporating a “step-up” process. Rather than ending the treatment with a single lens design, a series of lens designs is prescribed to accommodate the changing corneal surface. As the treatment progresses, the therapy proceeds with a series of two or more lens design modifications.

The newly developed optical therapy known as OSEIRT can treat those conditions untreatable with conventional Ortho-K, conditions such as extreme myopia, astigmatism, farsightedness, and hyperopia. This technology has been patented in the U.S. and Japan.
OSEIRT is more than the simple wearing of a specially curved lens to correct the corneal shape for restoring visual acuity. Proper treatment requires both a specialized type of diagnosis and technology and equipment unique to this therapy. The specialized nature of this therapy requires practitioners to have considerable professional experience and technical knowledge. Our Association strives to promote both the proper practice of Ortho-K and the improved understanding of OSEIRT and its advantages over Ortho-K.
As it is a new form of optical therapy, the current availability of qualified practitioners is limited. In Japan, OSEIRT is offered only at the Mitsui Medical Clinic operated by Dr. Iwane Mitsui, the innovator of Ortho-K in Japan. At this time, Dr. Mitsui is treating Japanese patients and other patients from around the world.
